Giving hair for cancer

These six girls, along with their teacher got together to show how “adult” they were and take on the challenge and fight cancer. Recently their close friend Mallory was diagnosed with Leukemia and suddenly it was a whole new world, conversations changed from makeup and boys to chemotherapy and hair loss, “What? Your going to lose your hair!” was the question for many hours of conversation. These 10-year-olds heard about “Locks of Love” from their teacher Dena McMurtury and the decided that they were all going to cut their hair for Mallory. Each lined up with freshly washed and brushed hair, including their teacher and one brave mother, for a total of 80 inches of hair to help create new wigs for those who have lost theirs from cancer related treatments.
Pictured are: (L) Alexis Colwell, Taylor Burton, Victoria Coombs, Celine Hayoz, Mrs Elaine Hayoz, Kendra Schrader and Emily Shaver, in back is teacher Dena McMurtury and volunteer hair stylist from Color & Cuts, Mark Thompson.
